So I don't know about everyone else, but on a lot of other message boards I'm on they have a topic for recomdening books. And well I thought that it would be good for this message board seen as its based around a book so people must have read other stuff haha. So yeah, its simple really. Just come and recommend a book that you think everyone else should read. And if you want to add a little description as to what the books about and why you think others should give it a go. Someone else want to start? & if there is already a thread like this than I didn't know. Sorry.

^vlogbrothers alright! haven't read the book yet but I want to hmmm, I've read this about three years ago, assigned in school but I really ended up liking it very much, a very sad and touching story...some of you might have read it already, not sure.... The Kite Runner. The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, a young boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who betrayed his best friend Hassan (by allowing him to be raped), the son of his father's Hazara servant, and lives in regret. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime. Moon Called is the English title, but I like the cover of the German one more. Moon Called is the beginning of the story of Mercedes Thompson. Mercy's life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf, her former boss is a gremlin, and she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.
She's a walker, not only capable of shifting into coyote shape at will but also possessed of a sharp nose for scenting other creatures and an ability to sense magic when it is at work. So when a teenaged werewolf approaches Mercy asking for work, she knows what he is immediately. She also knows it would be more prudent to refuse him, but he looks so desperate that she hires him anyway.
Turns out the werewolf, who goes by Mac, has escaped from a laboratory where he was being experimented on. When bad guys show up looking for him and Mercy kills one of them, also a werewolf, she realizes it's time to turn the matter over to the local Alpha werewolf, who also happens to be her next-door divorced neighbor Adam.
Before you can say “from the frying pan into the fire,” things go awry and Mercy finds and just barely saves a wounded Adam, whose fifteen year old daughter Jesse has been kidnapped by the same people who came after Mac. To help Adam heal, Mercy must take him to Montana, and the clan of the werewolves who raised her. There we meet Bran, leader of all the North American werewolves, whose son Samuel is the man, er, wolf, whom Mercy once loved and lost.
Eventually, Adam, Samuel and Mercy return to the Tri-Cities to search for Adam's missing daughter. In the process they have encounters with fae, vampires, other werewolves, and a witch or two. Mercy must contend not only with all these creatures but with Adam and Samuel's interest in her and the territorial contentiousness that results from it.

Honestly, I've read a lot of books. I love reading. Here are some books I would like to recommend for everyone.
For the ones looking for inspiration and love and something to do, basically. I would recommend books by Paulo Coelho. He is one of the most amazing authors of all time. His works are very inspiring. Click books.coelhopaulo.com/ to check out his books. So far, I like "By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept", "Brida" and "The Alchemist" the most. I read all of them and they're pretty good. His latest book is The Winner Stands Alone. (He has written so many books it's hard to put all pictures of them in here. Haha.)
For the hopeless romantic: I would recommend Stargirl and Love Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
Here's more info about the books: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(novel) Paulo Coelho has romance books, too but they're sort of angsty. The way Jerry wrote Stargirl and Love Stargirl has that impact on you that will make you want to fall in love. :3
For the ones who love fantasy/sci-fi: Neil Gaiman is a very good author of fantasy. I love Stardust. (For those who didn't know, there is a movie based from this book. It stars Claire Danes. I love the movie, too.) He also writes horror fiction and comic books. Here's more info about the book: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stardust_(novel) Here's more info about the movie based from the book: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stardust_(2007_film)
For those who wants to fall in love: <3 The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Nifenegger is the best one out there. It made me cry, it made me love so much. I like the way it shifts from Clare and Henry's points of view. It's now a movie, too. It stars Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. I also loved the movie. <3 Here's more info about the book: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_Traveler%27s_Wife Here's more info about the movie based from the book: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_Traveler%27s_Wife_(film)
Lastly, The Chronicles of Narnia. It's as good as the Harry Potter books (though I must admit Harry Potter is a little better). They're written by CS Lewis. There are seven books as well. There are two movies based from two books from these chronicles. I didn't like the movies as much as I loved the books. Check them out, anyway. These are really good reads. Here's more info about the series: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronicles_of_narnia Here's more info about The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe Movie: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_The_Lion,_the_Witch_and_the_Wardrobe Here's more info about Prince Caspian (BEN BARNES IS HOTTT! ) movie: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_Prince_Caspian
That's it for now! I have more books to recommend. Hahaha. But I do hope you read them if you can. Those are must-reads.

wow. thats a lot of books to read that i've never heard of haha. I've read half of The Time Traveler's Wife. and i've read the first maximum ride book at it was fun to read. Also i've had the pleasure of reading start girl. Not the second one but i will one day xD Here's my recommendations [sorry there is a lot haha]: I'll start with books that are classed as like teenager books (: The Darren Shan Saga by Darren Shan [being made into a film called The Vampires Assistant coming out this month]. Darren shan is by far my favrouite author. Apart from JK rowling, he was the one that really got me into reading. And it was the Saga that started it off. Basically its a 12 books series [each book only having about 150 pages] about a boy becoming a half vampire. Its a really decent read more info : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Saga_of_Darren_Shan The Demonata Seires by Darren Shan. this is different to his other saga. This is more for teens were the saga is aimed at a younger age. This series is about demons and other worlds, magic and everything that comes with it. more info : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Demonata House Of Night series. This series is good for people who have read twilight. Its another book aimed at teenagers about vampires. Although its based around a vampire school where you learn to be a vampire if you are marked. Its worth a read. More info : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Night_(series) The Mortal Instrument. This series is really good. when i first read it, it was like a mix of twilight, harry potter & buffy the vampire slayer haha. Its fillied with magic, vampires, werewolves and all other worldly things. i enjoyed it alot. more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mortal_Instruments_(series)Adultish books: Keeping Faith. This book is about a kid who starts seeing 'god'. But it could be just her trying to get attention cause her mum and dad have just got a divorce. Its a really powerful book with lots of different twist a turns as are all of Jodi Picoult's books. More info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keeping_Faith Memoirs of a geisha. By far one of the most powerful books i've ever read. Its hard to describe exactly what goes on in this book but its based around war and how life was like for geisha's in the old times.. more info : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memoirs_of_a_Geisha Inheritance cycle. one of my favourite series. Its basically about a boy who finds a dragon egg and becomes a dragon rider who try's to stop the king who is evil and unfair. more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inheritance_Cycle Amazing books. Just pure amazing. I don't think I have to give a explication for these, I'm sure you've all heard about them. The reason I recommend them is because they changed how I looked at religion and that's a very hard thing to do. They had my hooked from start to finish so I suggest people at least give them a go That's my recommendations. Of the only ones I can think of right now haha. sorry I wasn't much help with explaining them but I hope you all at least pick on to give a try. (:

cool (I absolutely love reading but sadly I havent been keeping it up) The Blue Girl Imogene sees the move she makes to de Lint's legendary city of Newford the perfect chance to shed her bad girl persona. The first day she selects conservative looking, hard-studying Maxine as her new best friend. She also starts having troubling dreams featuring her childhood imaginary friend and meet Adrian, the ghost of a boy who is said to have committed suicide by leaping off the high school roof. As in most of de Lint's oeuvre the line between reality and faerie softens and fades, this time forcing Imogene, Adrian, and Maxine into fighting the dark side of faerie. An outstanding urban fantasy novel that is destined to be a high-school favorite.this book will probably get me banned from here lol! so eh, read at your own caution vicious fifteen-year-old droog is the central character of this classic. In Anthony Burgess's nightmare vision of the future, where criminals take over after dark, the story is told by the central character, Alex, who talks in a brutal invented slang that brilliantly renders his and his friends' social pathology. A Clockwork Orange is a frightening fable about good and evil, and the meaning of human freedom. And when the state undertakes to reform Alex to "redeem" him, this novel asks, "At what cost?"

Though in my country, 'Inheritance Cycle' was published as 'Eragon'. There were also movies based from these books (but of course reading the books is better.) I agree with you. These books are rather good. Memoirs of a Geisha was actually very well written. It kind of reminds me of the 'Chinese Cinderella' book, though Chinese Cinderella was a bit more dramatic. Those are good books, guys. I'll try reading them when I have the chance.

Great recommendations everyone! I better start reading these books soon, some look very intriguing. I would recommend that if you are interested in fantasy, drama and a bit of romance, that you read Blood and Chocolate! ps. more info here: CLICK

Inheritance Cycle is just the name of the seires that Eragon and its follow up fall under. Seen both films, Memoirs of a geisha was amazing, Eragon sadly turned me off the book a little.
